Lots of things going on as always!

Hi Everyone!
Eric here.  I am thinking that this is going to be a fairly informal post because I dont have one thing in particular to talk about.  I figured I would go over just a few of the many things that are new with our business and the wedding industry.
We are just about finished with retouching and production of our nearly fifty 2009 weddings! Whew! I get tired just thinking about it. We have about 3 more to go.  I am really looking forward to getting those finished up and focusing ahead on the awesome 2010 season we have planned!
In the meantime we have a wedding tomorrow (January 2nd) at the Belaire in Erie.  I am excited to get some shooting time in since we haven't had a wedding in a little while.  We have this one, then one more winter one in February at Peek n Peak.  I am really hoping to get some awesome artsy winter snow shots! But I will leave that up to the bride and groom to see how daring they are!
Our web galleries are probably our most popular product addition this past year.  Im really loving them and all our clients seem to enjoy them just as much. Check one out at this link:

FACEBOOK! ... Facebook has been great to us this past year.  We love being in touch with all our clients so closely. We try to update this blog about once a month, but we update facebook many times a day. So be sure to add us and check out all of the cool photos we post on facebook! Thanks!
Enough for now, I have to save some for next time!  As always, I will leave you with a few of our recent favorite images.  Enjoy!

Lots of Great things to come!

Hey everyone, Katie here writing for Eric. We have a good excuse for not writing since August and that is because of a TON of changes that have been going on around the "Smyklo" house. First things first, Eric and I got engaged in September!! Yes, I am now sitting on the other side of the table and am experiencing first hand what all this wedding planning stuff is about. But we're lucky that we have a lot of great friends in the wedding industry around Erie which has made the planning a lot easier on me (and Eric too- so far only 1 Bridezilla moment!). The wedding will be next October, Friday the 8th at Riverside Inn in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania. I even got my dress already at a fantastic $179 dress sale at LeeMar's.

Second big thing is I've officially left behind my corporate nine-to-five to take on the photography business full time. Once we get our 2009 production finished up (hopefully before 2010!) I'll be taking on office manager duties, answering emails and phone calls and book keeping, on top of taking on some of my own weddings and of course assisting at all the other weddings. I'm also going to start promoting more of Eric's art photography by starting up an Etsy site and visiting local galleries. He already has some work on display at The Tom Ridge Center and it's been selling very well, so we're both really excited about that. It's been a pretty big adjustment for me, from going on a completely set schedule to working from home (or Borders, or Panera...!) but I'm definitely enjoying it. Before I was juggling my full time job (which was very demanding) AND trying to help out Eric as much as I could. My mental health suffered (not to mention the health of our house) so I'm excited to be a little more relaxed and to be able to actually enjoy life. That also means better photos and production for our clients which is definitely the most important.
I'm hopefully going to be able to update my own personal blog a lot more, I'm even thinking of doing a complete overhaul on it and starting from scratch so please check that out at: http://katieayers.blogspot.com/ . I haven't updated since MAY but I really didn't have 2 seconds to spare during the wedding season this year. But bookmark it and check back and I plan on updating and writing about my wedding planning and adjusting to being self-employed.
And of course, we'll leave you with some of our favorite shots from the last bunch of weddings we've been working on! Enjoy!

What a summer it has been!!!

What a summer! So many new weddings, ideas, brides, grooms, cities, venues, and the list goes on. Summer has been busy as all heck but things have been going awesome just as planned..
How awesome is Adriane in the blue wedding dress?! She was such a fun bride to photograph. She had a very casual ceremony and reception at the Warner in Erie PA. She had a 1950's theme wedding.....everything from the dress she bought on ebay to the the original 1950 cake topper! Very cool.

Chicago!!! Man, what an amazing wedding! The image with the city in the background is one of my all-time favorites. The wedding & reception were right downtown and we walked down to the lakeshore for this image.

Sheraton Erie PA.... I have been been shooting a lot at the new bayfront Sheraton reception hall in Erie. I definitely recommend checking it out. Its for sure one of the new cool places to have your wedding in Erie.

Blue Light Special... Man how rad is the blue image. The coolest part about the image is that the skylight was really this color. As soon as I saw this "blue room" I knew we were going to make this image. The final result was exactly what I had envisioned.
